Sustainability

We strive to use as many sustainable materials as possible in our designs, and choose products that are made to last, because considering the longevity of products naturally leads to more sustainable design solutions.

Our commitment

Fluid is committed to driving forward sustainability wherever possible, and look to minimise the impact, and maximise the benefits that our projects have on the environment and the communities they serve. Whether that’s through intelligent design, or through the way our teams work across all our divisions. In developing our strategy and setting out our policy, our aim is to deliver gradual but continuous improvements in our performance every year. As a result, our approach continues to evolve as we constantly learn. We want to turn waste into an opportunity – by reducing waste, reusing and recycling more of it and turning what’s left into low carbon energy with a policy aim to divert 100% of waste from landfill.

Reuse

A key feature of our environmental service, and our preferred process for redundant items. Items are assessed for condition and suitability and are passed onto a network of over 130 charities, schools, second hand furniture market and other reputable causes, ensuring that your organisation's corporate social responsibility is maintained to your high standard. We ensure each item will be traceable to its point of sale, charitable donation or recycling destination.

Recycling & recovery

Where the condition of unwanted items prevents them being reused effectively, recycling and recovery is employed. Items that can’t be reused are broken down into component parts and material form for efficient recycling.

Disposal

Some waste streams or mixed wastes that are unable to be separated do not have the ability to be recycled. Where this is the case the energy value of these resources can be recovered safely, using modern energy-from-waste technology, which has an 89% lower CO2 emission rate than landfill.

Accreditations

We’ve achieved our ISO14001 accreditation, demonstrating that our environmental management system meets the high standards set by the International Organisation for Standardisation. We ensure that we fulfil our commitment to controlling the environmental impact of our business, maintaining compliance with environmental legislation to prevent pollution, to reduce, reuse and recycle wherever possible and to continually monitor and improve the ways in which we deliver our services while meeting our environmental objectives.
